Having fun with your S.O. is vital in keeping the relationship alive and strong.
Of course you need to focus on serious essentials but another part of a relationship is learning how to play with them, to play with each other.
People like me spend so much time focusing on making sure our communication and everything else is in tact, that I forget to enjoy the relationship.
My boyfriend and I are long-distance so it’s been fun and interesting discovering new places and trying different kinds of food.
But when we were talking about what we should do when he flies over in a few weeks, we had a little bit of a hard time coming up with things to do, since we had done so much of it in the past.
If you’re stuck in a rut or if you and your S.O. are looking for new activities to try out and do together, below are some suggestions that are usually inexpensive, simple and fun!
#1. Play mini-golf.
Sure, hitting some golf balls at the driving range can be enjoyable and stress-relieving. But mini-golf is just plain fun! You don’t have to be good at it and healthy competition is good for a couple.
There are many places nationwide, probably different popular ones by state, but the environment of a majority of them is very simple and playful, which will add on to the excitement.
#2. Visit your local aquarium.
Wandering through the aquarium is always a fun activity for anyone, whether you do it with your S.O. or with your friends. It’s educational and it’s fun because again, no complex thinking involved.
You and your S.O. can marvel at the beauty or weirdness of the sea creatures that are dwelling in oceans and lakes worldwide. How awesome is that? I think it’s fascinating!
#3. Browse through a toy store and reminisce on your childhood.
When I was a little girl, I remember being so excited to go into a toy store, and once I was in there, there was no way I was coming out 🙂
It may seem childish but walking up and down the aisles while looking through the toys can be quite entertaining and a great get-to-know activity with your S.O.
You and your S.O. can share which toys you liked as kids and why you played with them so much. It’s a nice, simple way to play with them while learning something new about them.
#4. Have a water balloon fight!
This is a perfect activity either in the summer or in a place where it’s always hot, which is normally in the South or the Southwest.
There’s nothing more playful and fun than chasing each other around while throwing water-filled balloons on a hot sunny day.
My main tip for both guys and gals is to not wear a white or a light-colored shirt because it’ll definitely be see-through after you’ve been hit with water.
#5. Play video games.
I’m not a gamer but I do love playing video games such as Super Smash Brothers or Mario Kart Racing every now and then, and my boyfriend shares this interest.
It doesn’t have to be a complex role-playing video game where you or your S.O. has to learn how to do 20 things at once. Actually, the simpler the better!
Playing video games is another great way to include healthy competition into your relationship and it’ll definitely bring out some laughs and playful teasing.
