The holiday you either love or hate, depending on your current relationship status, is right around the corner. Valentine’s Day is coming up fast and there are many ways you can make the most of this day even as a single.

Whether you love it or dread it, here are some things to remember about Valentine’s Day.

1. It’s not all about romance.

Most people hate this holiday because they think you need to have a significant other. The truth is that Valentine’s Day is about all kinds of love.

It’s about the love you have for your family, your friends, and even yourself! This Valentine’s Day remember to let your loved ones know how important they are to you.

This could be as simple as sending them a text or giving them a phone call. Little gestures can go a long way.

2. Plan a fun day!

One of the best ways to spend Valentine’s Day is by doing fun things with your friends or your partner.

If you are in a relationship, plan something special with your significant other. Find an activity that you both like and make a whole day out of it! It’s all about making memories.

For all my single ladies and men, something fun to do is to hang out with your friends. Plan a night out, grab some drinks, and just have a good time.

There is no reason to sit around and think about how lonely you are, do something fun that will take your mind off of it instead!

3. Send yourself a valentine.

There is nothing wrong with treating yourself to something special. This could be something as simple as buying a new outfit or treating yourself to a manicure.

It’s like I said earlier: this holiday is also about the love that you have for yourself!

4. Make dinner at home.

If you do have a valentine, it can sometimes be stressful figuring out what to do with them in order to celebrate. A lot of times, people want to go out to dinner with their partner and enjoy a nice meal. On Valentines Day however, restaurants tend to get a little crowded.

I personally think that making a meal at home is not only more fun but it’s also more intimate. Whether you are cooking together or making the meal for your partner, it’s definitely a good way to spend quality time and show them how much they mean to you.

5. Do something nice for someone else.

There is no better feeling than making someone else happy! A random act of kindness like writing a stranger a valentine or hand crafting a gift is definitely a way you can turn your Valentine’s Day upside down.

Ultimately, you can make the most of your Valentine’s Day whether you have a significant other or not. Don’t sit around wishing you had someone to spend the day with because in the end, you do! Valentine’s Day is all about what you make of it.
