It can be frustrating when you want to do something fun but everyone you know is busy and doing something else. This can cause us to abandon our fun plans and waste our free day away. However, there are still several entertaining activities you can do to fill your time alone.
1. Take yourself on a date.
You don’t need to have other people to go out and have a good time. If all your friends are busy, take yourself on a date. It’s always good to treat yourself every once and awhile. This gives you the time to focus on self-love rather than just a night out with friends.
Go to that movie you’ve been wanting to see or that really awful one that you know will make you laugh. Afterwards, pick your favorite restaurant. It could be the fancy one you save for special occasions or the greasy guilty pleasure fast food one. Top the entire night off with your favorite desert and go home happy and full.
2. Read a book.
Sometimes when you crave to go out with friends, it’s the adventure you’re really seeking. However, you can still get what you’re looking for without a friend or group. A good book is a great way to transport yourself into another world.
Whether it’s a sci-fi fantasy novel or a cheesy romantic one, sitting down to read can give you the adventure without needing anyone to go with you. Get a good blanket and a tub of ice cream and spend the night going on a journey between two covers.
3. Go to a workout class.
If you’re alone for the night then don’t just let it defeat you, but instead get moving. Check your gym for a workout class. Maybe choose a cycling class or a HIIT workout. It will be great to get your heart pumping but it will also be great to be around other people.
You’ll feel good afterwards and you’ll get that human interaction you were looking for with your friends. When you work out, it makes you feel like you’re being productive, so when you feel stuck without friends, this can help you feel fulfilled.
4. Call up family.
Who says friends are the only ones you can call to go do something fun? Family is also a great resource to find someone to go out and spend time with. It’s the interaction with others you are craving, and a family member can provide just that. Go to a movie with your brother. Grab dinner with your cousin.
If you don’t live close to family, just give them a call or FaceTime them. A good long talk with family always seems to make you feel loved afterwards, especially if you haven’t talked to them in a while. A good phone call with family will be special for everyone involved.
…
When friends can’t get together, it doesn’t equal a night wasted. Make it a day for yourself. Treat yourself to a movie and dinner or workout and call family. Whatever you do, don’t let a perfectly good night and mood suffer because everyone is busy. You can still have that eventful night you were hoping for all on your own.
