Affirmations are something I have recently incorporated into my nighttime routine and they are slowly changing the way I think about myself, others around me and life in general.
Affirmations can be anything you want them to be — anything you want yourself to become. You can use affirmations to elevate your everyday life and self-perception. You have the power to enhance your life immensely by just repeating simple statements each day.
What are affirmations?
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the word affirmation means the act of affirming or something affirmed: a positive assertion. Affirmations are not much different because they are essentially statements that you acknowledge to be true.
These statements must be positive, inspiring and important to you. Affirmations can be anything you want them to be and anything that you want to manifest to be true in your life.
Success Consciousness describes affirmations as, “Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious minds, so that in turn, they affect our behavior, thinking patterns, habits and environment.”
How do they work?
When you decide on your affirmation, choose a time in your day, usually morning or night, and repeat the statement out loud to yourself, write it down or meditate it.
Success Consciousness says, “The affirmations, and the resultant mental images, get engraved on the subconscious mind, which in turn, changes the behavior, habits, actions and reactions according to the repeated words.” In other words, by repeating your declared-to-be-true affirmations, they will come to fruition.
For example, if your affirmation is, “I live with passion and purpose,” you would repeat this statement several times daily by speaking, writing or meditating it. By repeating this statement, you are always keeping it in the back of your mind.
You become more likely to live this passionately purposeful way every day that this affirmation is repeated and you will likely make decisions that reflect this.
Along with your conscious, your subconscious becomes aware that you live with passion and purpose. Eventually, this small statement will begin to affect the big aspects of your life.
I’m convinced, I need affirmation inspiration.
